Hi!
I just purchased the ProMix bundle and so far have found both plugins just mind blowing!
Unfortunately, I've ran into an issue: as soon as I have more than 2 instances of Mix Monolith open at the same time, my DAW slows down to a crawl (tried in Ableton Live 11 and Reaper). This is on an i9-10900 PC running Windows 11, 64 GB of RAM. AMD Radeon RX 580 (latest drivers).
In Reaper, I can open up to 3 Mix Monolith plugin windows (the third one causes noticeable display lag). If I open a fourth, Reaper hangs and I have to end it from Task Manager.
In Ableton Live, opening a second instance will create a huge slowdown, so much so that I can't do anything except hover over the "Close" button on the plugin window and wait for it to become responsive again so I can close the window.
Steps to reproduce:
Reaper:
Start a new project
Add four empty tracks
Start adding Mix Monolith to each track, without closing the plugin windows. In my case, when I add it to the third track, there is noticeable lag. The fourth track is the point of no return.
Ableton:
Start with the default Ableton template
Add Mix Monolith to the first audio track
Add Mix Monolith to the second audio track
Open the plugin interface in one track
Open the plugin interface on the second track and there is a massive slowdown.
I can reproduce this behavior with both the VST2 and VST3 version of the plugin.
Workaround: Keep only one Mix Monolith plugin window open at a time.
COS Pro doesn't exhibit this behavior (nor do any of the other plugins I use).
Sorry for the long fist post! Hopefully this issue can be solved, as it is quite annoying (though I can avoid the issue by being extra careful not to have more than one Mix Monolith plugin window open)
System specs:
Windows 11
i9-10900k
64 GB Ram
Radeon RX 580
Ultrawide monitor (maybe this has something to do with the problem?) at 3440 x 1440
Hi,
a few days ago, I have decided to purchase the ProMix Bundle. The entire Bundle is really amazing. My laptop has almost the same specs like joeys computer. Well, I didn`t have any issues with COS-Pro, but with Monolith. My computer seemed to slow down drastically the more instances of Monolith I used (opened at the same time). Frustration was great!! So I searched the internet for similar problems and found your comments.
In my case, I think that I`ve found a solution. I`ve opened the setting of the nVidia-Card. I switched off the "G-Sync" button.
The result of this action -> no more problems with Monolith graphics and slowing down issues. Everything is running well as it should supposed to be.😁
Hi Andreas, I see you have an nVidia card. There seems to be a problem with Radeon drivers and whatever method is being used to generate/update the GUI. I switched to an nVidia card a few months ago (for reasons not related to this problem), and upon reading your post decided to check again: I can now have any number of instances open without any slowdown whatsoever.
Hi, I'm also on Reaper and Windows 11 here and have no such issues. 28 tracks of audio, each with one instance of Mix Monolith + masterbus with 3 instances of Mix Monolith (Main pre- & post-comp + Main Fader). Windows 11
Ryzen 5950x
64 GB Ram RME HDSP 5296 128 samples buffer size
NVIDIA GTX 1660 Super (3 x 27" FullHD monitors)
That said, we will look into this.
Hello, Thanks for the report. Due to the massive interconnectivity of the Monoliths, when mixing it's a good idea to increase your audio buffer to its largest setting. This will allow you to use many instances of Mix Monolith...even (2) per track for gain-staging as well as final leveling.
