Brown first appeared on the West Coast Hip Hop scene as a session Guitarist for Platinum Producer, Warren G DeeJay and DMC freestyle Turntable Champion DJ Rectangle. Under Rectangle’s tutelage Brown fast moved into beat making, production and engineering. 

 

From touring with heavy rock band at just 15 years of age, playing with acid jazz groups, witnessing the birth of Speed Garage, Drum & Bass and the Bristol Sound he signed a major record deal as a songwriter and urban solo performer during the mid 90’s. Brown’s eclectic style and willingness to obliterate boundaries has since become something of a calling card.

 

It was sometime during the mid 2000’s that Universal Machete sent their premier rap artist, La Mama Rodriguez to work with Rectangle and Brown. The idea was to record a high profile, West Coast influenced single for her much anticipated Album, Malamarismo. After hearing a selection of tracks that Brown had been working on she ended up picking three more for the album which went on to be nominated for Best Urban Music Album at the 8th Latin Grammy Awards alongside Daddy Yankee and Calle 13.

 

During the summer of 2023 Brown was asked to bring his emotionally connective style to augment the powerful and unusual story of the Brawn Formula One racing team in a high profile project put together by Simon Hammerson and Keanu Reeves for Disney+.

 

The soundtrack for Brawn was received exceptionally well, later released on Hollywood Records and the show ended up with a well earned Emmy win.
